Thouddin’s Top Ten Games of 2016

It has been an impossibility difficult year this year for me in so many respects. Thankfully I have had this here website and video games to ease the pain. We as a site have come a long way from where we were at this time in 2016. The time and effort we have put into this website is due to just how great a year it has been in video games. There are more games for more people than ever and if this website is anything it is a platform for those people, who often don’t get much of a voice in traditional video games coverage, to have a chance to tell the world why they love the games they love so much. With that in mind here is my chance to tell you about my top ten games of 2016.

Asky’s Top 10 games of 2016

I’m not a big believer in assigning superlatives to the times currently being lived in. I tend to buy more into the idea that people are very biased towards feeling their own times are more significant simply because they are living through them and as crazy or scary or “the most [anything]” that it seems, it’s never without some historical precedent. That being said, it has been quite a year. I suspect 2016 will get at least a full paragraph in a 2030s-era textbook. (assuming anyone is still around to write them) Fortunately, as Vinny is fond of saying, there’s never been a better time to be playing video games and instead of dwelling on anything else, how about we spend a few words reflecting on another year’s worth of interactive entertainment?

C.O.P.S. Over Baghdad – Episode 3: The Story So Far

C.O.P.S. Over Baghdad is back from its six-month vacation to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and it’s all out of gum.

Picking up where we left off, topics include but are not limited to:

  • Being a Drug Enforcement Officer in Arizona
  • The life and times of a Wildland Fire Investigator
  • Juniper bow (think “Deck The Halls” rather than archery) cartels
  • The perfectly-executed crash landing of a Cessna

Enjoy!

Mesoian’s Top 10 Games of 2016

10. Inside

Surprises in games are always more than welcome in this new modern age of the predictable 5 act story that is video games en-masse. And while there isn’t much different between Inside and it’s predecessor Limbo in terms of gameplay, Inside gives a masterclass on visual storytelling and creative design built to unnerve and creep, while keeping you captivated and intent on reaching its brilliant climax. It’s not the most difficult game, nor the longest, nor the most technically impressive, but its short form storytelling does everything right in keeping you invested until the very end.
