Part two of traveling to and exploring the wonders (mostly nutritional) of the United States of America

This blog post will cover two days of my trip in Baltimore through August 13th and 14th.

August 13th

  • Even though I went to bed before 12 which is amazing for me, I still woke up at 6am. Guess I won’t even get extra sleep on this trip, not that I needed it anyway.
  • Bites still itch
  • Timezone change is mixing me up constantly, I am not sure when the G1 climax matches are starting or when Jeff usually drives and streams on Mixlr.
  • Going to get anti itch cream (spoilers even after application it still itches) Rite aid had liquor on sale called New Amsterdam which appeared to be a Vodka with loads of flavours. I thought only liquor stores could sell alcohol here.
  • On the way back I figured it would be a crime to not step into the 7-eleven and grab a drink, I went with a Rockstar roasted Light Vanilla with Almond Milk (Rockstar doesn’t care about your Californian droughts)
  • This guys location is pretty sweet as he is right outside a bus stop that goes directly to Inner Harbour which is basically the main tourist destination of Baltimore for 1.60 a trip. He was not wrong about the racial divide thing as you can sort of see it as the bus drives in.
  • I forgot to mention I was about to eat a payday bar at Rite Aid but instead went for a Baby Ruth. It was a candy bar
  • The Buses in Baltimore at least are all pretty cool but i like that some of them have truck style front ends which seems weird to me but maybe that’s how they were all designed back in the day.
  • Arriving at Inner Harbor I realise i have no game plan so I started walking to federal hill which was once a fort owned by the confederates as a stronghold.
  • On the way back down I saw a pirate ship floating by but i don’t think it was a real one as it looked too small and the crew looked too useless. I think some of them got the drunk part right though.
  • I figured as there is a national aquarium right in front of me I should go, I did not expect it to be 40 dollars a ticket but I am not really doing much sightseeing this trip so whatever.
  • There was a dolphin show and I kind of found it weird and funny that the trainer lady clearly had seen that documentary about the whales as most of her speech had careful wording to say the dolphins loved it here and the trainers and they were working together.
  • Leaving the aquarium I found a place called Dicks Last Resort which had a bar on the marina. The bar lady was pretty rowdy and it was an interesting experience to say the least. There were also four New Orleans saints guys there who were clearly rich as they all had season tickets and took a private us down to a preseason game against Baltimore. Either way they were pretty cool to hang out with and to get a burger from. No picture of this one this time though. I need to remember to photograph the crap that I eat.
  • Hopefully I can find some form of Chick Fil A or something later on.
  • I figure I can sweat out most of the sugars and crap that I consume this trip by barely even having to move although once dusk approaches it does get pretty good weather wise.
  • While planning for going out we pre drunk with some Big Squeeze UFO which is not the best of beers but I think thats because I don’t like grapefruit.
  • The first place we go to is some pretty alright irish bar with some live “modern jazz”. It was pretty cool and something that is just super rare over in the UK unless it’s some small village pub or something. My AirBnB buddy had a tullamore dew on the rocks while I went with I think “Mad Hatter”. I immediately forgot the name but think it’s that. It was your standard ale ass ale, super hoppy and an interesting taste.
  • Some of the bar ladies were pretty nice looking and there was one guy i was jealous of rocking a sweet rockabilly quiff. It seemed more of a rock bar than an irish bar to be honest
  • After that we moved to the Crown which is a dive bar and my first time in one. It was hipster as fuck which was amusing to me but it was a really awesome place to be fair. The blue room side was a small food serving band which had asian fusion like a “kimchi burger”. There was a live band which sounded like if Jefferson Airplane kept going and turned into a modern version of a new wave 80s band. It was funny to me (turns out the bands name is Polio club)
  • During the Jefferson Airplane revival reunion act I had Pabst Blue Ribbon and a weird but great tasting beer called Shiner Ruby Redbird which was a pretty nice beer.
  • After that we moved to the red side where there was a sweet band playing some punk but what was awesome is that the bassist was acting as lead guitarist so it was kind of uptuned but still really awesome to see. I do not know of their band name but their bassist seems to be in loads of bands including one titled “Il Culo” which brings up some interesting results on youtube
  • After the red bar and a double sailor jerrys we moved to another bar which seemed to stretch and looked pretty seedy but cool. There were steps to seemingly a miniature room which just had one seat there which was unique. Safe to say this place was slightly hipster as well.

August 14th

  • Waking up I was pretty hungover and just could not be bothered other than to waste the day.
  • we all decided to take a random road trip to find some barbeque place. That was a fun ride which ended at this small random side place which was basically one room for ordering and cooking called “Big Bad Wolfs House of Barbecue”. I got the Big Bad Wolf which was pulled pork, beef brisket and hickory smoked bacon all in a big bun. It was pretty tasty, and a side of mac and cheese.
  • This hangover has killed my day and buzz to do anything other than lie on this bed sweating and wanting to not move or else i sweat more or the headache grows stronger.
  • I finally decided to move to go to the 7-11 to stock up. I figured I should get an extra large slurpee and mix everything in it
  • Other food items were a bag of fritos which are salty as hell but i keep snacking on them and more of that Rockstar Roasted which is real tasty.
  • The plan for the rest of the day is to find some pizza and hope it’s pretty dope.

I feel like it’s so far so good with my trip. I could be eating more standard chain food though but I feel like I am covering that with random 7-11 trips. The next blog update should cover the wedding day and probably the final day of being in Baltimore.

Below you can see a picture of the Big Bad Wolf (BBW) that I consumed on the fourteenth and a link to an imgur archive of all the images that I took at the aquarium.
